Suriya's "Singam 2" has completed a successful 100-day run in several theatres across Tamil Nadu.

In an official statement, Lakshman Kumar, the head of Prince Pictures (producers of "Singam 2"), thanked the media and the audience for making the film a big success, reported Behindwoods.

"Singam 2", which had a massive release on 5 July, received mixed, but mostly positive reviews from critics. The film opened to a good response at the Indian box office and fetched more than ₹50 crore in just 10 days of its release. It has reportedly grossed over ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office.

Directed by Hari, "Singam 2" has Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Radharavi, Nassar, Vivek and many others reprising their roles from the original. The film had an additional cast including Hansika Motwani, Santhanam, Mukesh Rishi, Rahman and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani.

The sequel is about a righteous cop who cracks down on illegal drug dealers. Despite getting mixed reviews, "Singam 2" emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2013 and made good profits. With the success of "Singam 2", the film's team has proved that sequels can also perform well at the box office.

"Singam 2" gave Suriya the much-needed hit, after two back-to-back average grossers - "7aum Arivu" and "Maattran." The actor is all set to begin his work in Lingusamy's yet-to-be-titled film. The film, touted to be a romantic-action entertainer, will have Samantha playing the female lead.

Even before "Singam 2" released, it was announced that Suriya will be doing two projects - one with Lingusamy and the other one with Gautham Menon. Lingu's film is set to take off in November, but unfortunately Suriya has opted out of Gautham's film.

In a letter released to the media, Suriya has officially announced that he is backing out of Gautham's project as he has not yet received the complete script of the film despite waiting for over one year. It might be recalled that Suriya rose to stardom with popular films including "Kaakha Kaakha" and "Varanam Aayiram", directed by Gautham.
