Ravi Teja's "Balupu" (Arrogance) is doing good business at the domestic box office with the film raking in ₹15 crore in Andhra Pradesh during the first week.

This is the biggest ever first week collections for a Ravi Teja film. "Balupu" is still going strong and doing well in the second weekend despite new releases including Suriya's "Singam - Yamudu 2."

"#balupu collects ₹15.31 crores share in AP in first week. Biggest for Ravi Teja. Film is steady and doing well in 2nd week," Jeevi, editor and reviewer of idlebrain.com, said on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"Balupu", which was released on 28 June, opened to good response not just in India but also in overseas markets. The film minted ₹9.31 crore in Andhra Pradesh during the first weekend. Its collections were impressive in Tamil Nadu (TN) as well. "Balupu" fetched ₹40.25 lakh during the debut weekend (June 28 to 30) from 35 screens, which is deemed as the best ever opening for a Ravi Teja film in TN.

Even at overseas markets, "Balupu" had a good start and was able to rake in the moolah. The action-comedy film made ₹1.76 crore in the first weekend at the US box office, grossing more than Bollywood release "Ghanchakkar" starring Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan. The collections crossed the total business made by other Ravi Teja films - "Kick", "Don Seenu" and "Mirapakai" - at the US box office.

With the film going strong at the box office, it is expected to be a blockbuster. The "Balupu" team is already on high spirits and celebrated the film's success by cutting cakes during a success meet at Radisson Blu hotel in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

"Balupu" is likely to rake in more money in the second week as well. The release of a couple of Telugu films including Gopi Chand's "Sahasam" and "Alias Janaki" might hamper "Balupu" collections from Friday (12 July).
