A string of smartphones in Samsung's popular Galaxy range are pegged to receive Android's latest 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS update.

Technology website PC Tablet, citing an unnamed source, said Samsung's Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 are mentioned in the company's pre-list of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS update. According to the list, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will receive the update by the end of May, after the unveiling of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS at the Google I/O event which is scheduled for 15 May.

Another popular technology blog SamMobile has confirmed this information on Twitter. Besides the Jelly Bean OS update, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are also scheduled to get Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie update sometimes after the first upgrade.

"A tweet from a reliable internal source for Samsung related leaks, SamMobile, has confirmed that both Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is coming by the end of May or in starting of June," the report said.

There is no information about when the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note smartphones will receive the Jelly Bean OS update, which will be the last Android upgrade to be rolled out to these two devices.

The new update will bring a new batch of bug fixes and changes to the current OS. Some of the noticeable changes include the ability to resize apps and change the colour and layout of apps.
