The first look of Emraan Hashmi's supernatural film "Ek Thi Daayan" (There Was a Witch) has been unveiled.
The film directed by debutant Kannan Iyer also stars Konkana Sen Sharma, Huma Quershi and Kalki Koechlin in pivotal roles.
Initially titled as "Daayan," the film's name was later changed to "Ek Thi Daayan." The film is jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms and Vishal Bhardwaj's VB Pictures Production. This is the first time that Kapoor has associated with Bhardwaj for a film. The film is slated for release on 18 April.
The first poster released shows Hashmi entwined in the hair of his three leading ladies. The film is reportedly about a witch and a magician. Hashmi dons the role of the magician, but it is not yet known which of these three ladies play "Daayan."
Earlier, in an interview to Indo-Asian News Service, actress Koechlin said that "'Ek Thi Daayan' is ... about a witch and a magician. The mystery is that there are three possible 'daayans' and you guys will probably have lots of competition trying to guess which of us is the daayan."
Film's producer Ekta Kapoor is known for using unique marketing strategies to promote her films. This time too, the queen of television has found an innovative way to promote her film. Ekta has started a 16-episode spooky television series titled "Ek Thi Naayika." The show will see eight popular TV actresses including "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's" Smriti Irani and "Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki" fame Sakshi Tanwar, promoting the film through this mega TV series.
The show will be aired on Life OK starting 9 March.
