Souvik Pal’s Death: Family Suspects Murder, Demands Probe
The family of the Indian student, whose body was found in a canal in the UK this week, suspects that he was murdered. The family has asked for an investigation in the case even after the post-mortem proved his death as "inconclusive".
Souvik Pal's body was discovered from the Bridgewater Canal near Old Trafford football ground at around at 2 pm on Tuesday. Police recovered the corpse three weeks after he went missing from Manchester.
Pal was last seen on New Year's Eve at around 11 pm. The next day at around 5.30 am his roommate filed a missing report.
Alok Ranjan, his grandfather, on Wednesday said that the family suspects foul play. He also said that they are demanding a proper investigation in the case.

According to Deccan Herald, his grandfather said the family suspects the teen was murdered and his body thrown into the Bridge water Canal.
"We're suspecting foul play since divers had searched [the canal] times and had not been able to find anything at all for more than 20 days. There is also a possibility he could have been murdered and [the body] dumped in the canal," Rudra Roy, a family friend, told The Hindu
"It was in a decomposed state and a birthmark on the right side of his forehead helped in identification. The rescue team also found his passport, an identity card and a watch in the canal," Roy added.
Pal went missing from the Warehouse Project in South Manchester on New Year's Eve. He was a student at the Metropolitan University located in North West England.
