Superstar Rajinikant's Tamil science fiction movie "Enthiran" was one of India's biggest blockbuster film released in 2010.

The movie was released worldwide along with its dubbed versions "Robo" in Telugu which got a phenomenal response and "Robot" in Hindi which opened to average collections.

Last month the movie, directed by Shankar and produced by Kalanithi Maran, was released in Japan which got a thunderous response.

At first, the film was released as 2 hours trimmed version which excluded some scenes and songs at TIFF (Tokyo International Film Festival).

However, the movie became so popular in Japan that on public demand the original 3 hour version including the cut songs and scenes of the film is being screened at 1300 theatres across the country, according topinkvilla.com.

Four weeks are gone and the movie is still getting good response and is also competing with mainstream Japanese movies.

The song Irumbile Idhayam/Naina Miley has become a popular song in Japan with most people humming to it despite the language problem.

The film features superstar Rajinikant in double roles, as a scientist and an android robot. Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played the female lead character. Actors Danny Denzongpa, Santhanam, Karunas, Kalabhavan Mani, Devadarshini, and Cochin Haneefa were featured in supporting roles.

Actor Rajinikant created a large Japanese fan-base with his film Muthu directed by K. S. Ravikumar and produced by K. Balachander. It became the first Tamil movie to be dubbed into Japanese as Mutu: Odoru Maharaja (Muthu- the Dancing Maharaja) in 1998.
