"Imaging is big on phones. People snap a lot, transmit a lot. We wanted to set a new benchmark in terms of innovation and technology. So it's a kind of a hot leadership credential innovation," D. Shivakumar, Senior Vice-President of Nokia for India, Middle East, Africa markets, said in response to consumer interests according to the Hindu Business Line.

Amongst other specifications the PureView 808 includes 512 MB RAM plus 16GB of in-built storage that's expandable up to 32 GB or 48 GB via an SD slot. The device also sports the standard Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery, that's claimed to give up to nearly seven hours of talk time on 3G speeds.

Though Nokia has given a peep on the PureView 808's actual pricing, several reports suggest that the smartphone will sell for around INR 30,000 in the Indian market.

However, the Japanese titan had trashed the rumors, and cited that the pricing is more or less just a "dummy price", and that the smartphone will reportedly not be made available for the alleged price.

Nokia's affirmation about the pricing may ring true, given the number of devices that have hit the market with a higher price tag. Samsung's latest Galaxy S3 could be taken for reference in this context; Before the S3 was launched it was expected to be priced around Rs 38,000 but after the release, the smartphone was priced at Rs 43,180.
