The year 2012 is certainly not the greatest for Indian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival. Unlike in the past when several Indian films won accolades at the most prestigious international film festival, this year no Indian films except 'Miss Lovely' are officially in the competition.

However, there are three more Indian films that were selected at the Cannes in other categories, Zee News reported. In all five films from India are set to be screened at Cannes this year - Miss Lovely, Peddlers, Kalpana, Gangs of Wasseypur - Part I and Part II.

Director Ashim Ahluwalia's Indian drama,"Miss Lovely" is set in Mumbai in 1986 and has been selected to compete in the "Un Certain Regard," the second most important section at the festival.

The film is about a pair of brothers who make third-rate alternative horror, porn films in the 1980s in Mumbai. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the lead in the film.

Well, 2012 Cannes seems a good year for Siddiqui, as another film "Gangs of Wasseypur" with him playing one of the leads has been selected in the "Fortnight" section at Cannes.

This two-part series gangster revenge drama of a family spanning three generations is set in Wasseypur  and is directed by Indian director Anurag Kashyap and features Manoj Bajpayee and Irrfan Khan in lead roles.

The third film to get a break at the most prestigious international film festival is Hindi-language movie "Peddlers" and is about two unconventional love stories.

The film, produced by Anurag Kashyap's company and directed by Vasan Bala, has been chosen for Cannes Critics Week.

And lastly, the fourth film selected in "Cannes Classic" is Uday Shankar's 1948 film "Kalpana."

The dance-drama film revolves around a dancer's dream and the journey ahead features Shankar himself, besides his wife Amala Shankar in lead roles.

The 65th Cannes film festival begins from May 16 and ends on May 27, 2012. Several Bollywood celebrities will walk the coveted red carpet, the most probable being Aishwarya Rai with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, popularly known as Beti-B.
