2G Scam: Raja Gets Bail After Spending 15 Months In Tihar jail
Former Telecom Minister and prime accused in the 2G spectrum case, A Raja, has been granted bail by a Delhi court after spending 15 months in Tihar jail.
Judge O P Saini granted conditional bail to Raja after he furnished personal and surety bonds of Rs 2 million (INR 20 lakh) each.
The court ordered Raja not to leave Delhi without prior permission.
Raja moved the court for bail on May 9 for the first time ever since he was arrested in February last year for his possible role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, which was reportedly opposed by the CBI.
A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday reserved the order on Raja's bail plea till May 15.

Raja's decision to apply for bail came after his close aide and ex-telecom secretary Siddharth Behura was granted bail by the Supreme Court on May 9 in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Raja is the last accused to secure the bail in the case and he decided to move the court on the grounds of "parity" as 13 other co- accused in the case have already been granted bail.
Behura secured bail more than a year after he was arrested in 2011 in the 2G case. The apex court granted him bail by specifying that he would have to furnish a personal bond of INR 1 million (Rs 10 lakh) and surety amount of Rs 500,000.
Other accused including, DMK MP and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, Swan Telecom Director Vinod Goenka, Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu) Ltd Managing Director Sanjay Chandra, Reliance ADA Group officials- Gautam Doshi, Surendra Pipara, Hari Nair and recently Behura - all secured bail earlier.
Raja has been accused for his alleged involvement in 2G spectrum scam that caused a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crores to the state ex-chequer. Raja allegedly favoured few private companies and granted 2G air wave licenses at throwaway prices in return for kickbacks in 2008.
The Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) report in 2010 exposed the telecom scam, which has been touted as the biggest corruption scandal in India.
