Google unveiled the much-awaited software, Android 5.0 Lollipop, along with the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 on Wednesday but it looks it will take some time before owners of Google Play edition devices experience it. The search giant said that the firmware will be rolled out in a few weeks' time but didn't reveal the exact release date.

Nothing is confirmed as of now but the new software is very likely to be released along with the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 sometime next month, as the devices run on the new firmware.

Tentative Update Schedule:

Google Nexus: Android 5.0 Lollipop is likely to come to Nexus devices before being rolled out to other Google Play edition devices. The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 will get the firmware update and they are expected to receive it as soon as it is released.

Motorola: The official blog of the company has confirmed that its devices like Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini will get the new software and that may happen a few months after Google release it. The company said that they are still working out the details on timing and the upgrade. 

HTC: The Taiwanese giant has confirmed that the HTC One and HTC One (M8) will get Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade within 90 days of its release. HTC Desire Eye is also likely to get the software update though it is not confirmed yet.

Samsung: Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will get Android 5.0 Lollipop later this year. However, it is still not known whether other devices like Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will get the software update.

LG: Devices like LG G is expected to get the new software though the company has not uttered a word on it yet. However, a report by CNet said that LG G3 and G2 Pro, the G2 and original G Pro might to get the firmware update. 

OnePlus One: The handset will get the new software update within three months of its release. Mike, Administrator of OnePlus forum has confirmed that the firmware will be rolled out to the device saying, "We promise to have it done within three months of their releasing a final build." 

Sony: The electronics giant has confirmed that its devices - Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z, and Xperia Z2 Tablet - will get Android 5.0 Lollipop.
