After resurrecting her acting career again, it appears model Naomi Campbell may have to take a hiatus. The former Victoria's Secret model has been found guilty of assault by a Sicilian Court, which has slapped her with a six-month suspended jail sentence for attacking a photographer.

The judge delivered the verdict on an incident that took place in August 2009.

According to Daily Mirror, the "American Horror Story" actress hit photographer, Gaetano Di Giovanni, with her handbang for allegedly clicking pictures of her and Russian ex-boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin. The actress scratched the paparazzo's eyes in the process.

Reports suggest that the actress had an out-of-court settlement with the photographer, after which he withdrew the charges against her. However, prosecutor Francesco Massara ordered the trial to go ahead in public interest because of the gravity of the charges against her, reported Daily Mail (Via Ansa).

The court stated that the photographer needed medical treatment after the incident and took three days to recover.

Naomi Campbell's lawyer, Guido Carlo Alleva, intends to appeal again and declined to comment as the case is still under litigation.

Since the actress has only received a suspended jail sentence, she is still in a position to see through her acting commitments. Recently, she was cast as a member of hit American TV series, "Empire" and "American Horror Story", season 5 titled "Hotel".

However, since the case is sub-judice, we will have to see if the model-turned-actor could bargain for a lesser term or find relief in some way.

This is not the first time that Naomi Campbell has faced jail sentence.

In 2007, she was convicted of assaulting her housekeeper, Ana Scolavino. The actress pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay for Scolavino's medical expenses, undergo anger management and had to perform five days of community service at New York's sanitation department. During the period, she turned up donning high street fashion outfits, including a Dolce and Gabbana gown.
