"Rowdy Rathore" was a successful movie of 2012 with huge box-office collection. The movie was the turning point in Akshay Kumar's career and it also marks his entry in the 100 crore club. It now appears that the producers are planning for its sequel.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shabina Khan, the producers of "Rowdy Rathore" have once again joined together for its sequel. Bhansali and Khan are already ready with the script for their sequel, reported Mumbai Mirror.

"Bhansali will put Bajirao Mastani on floors in October and 'Rowdy Rathore 2' will roll by the mid of next year. The sequel was in the pipeline ever since the film entered the ₹100 crore club," a source told Mirror.

The co-producer of the film Shabina, who had designed Kumar's look in the action movie, confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, we are making 'Rowdy Rathore 2'. We are in the process of locking the script."

"Rowdy Rathore" directed by Prabhu Deva was the remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu. It featured Kumar in double role opposite Sonakshi Sinha.

While "Rowdy Rathore 2" will feature Kumar yet again, the lead actress and the rest of the cast is yet to be decided. However, the movie is likely to go on floors in June 2015.

The "Boss" star will be working with Prabhu for the third time after their success with "Rowdy Rathore". They recently collaborated for "Singh is Bling", which is a sequel of Kumar's another hit, "Singh is King". "Singh is Bling" is likely to hit theatres on 31 July 2014.

"Rowdy Rathore" released on 2012, collected around ₹131.25 crores in India and was rated the third highest grosser of 2012 after "Agneepath" and "Housefull 2". However,  "Rowdy Rathore" is still the highest grossing film of both Kumar and Prabhu. The duo are set to repeat their action once again with "Rowdy Rathore 2".

Meanwhile, the "Khiladi 786" actor will be seen next in his comedy flick, "It's Entertainment" that is set to hit the screens on 8 August. The movie is directed by debutant duo Sajid-Farhad and produced by Ramesh S Taurani of Tips Industries Ltd.
