Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan apparently turned down "Leader" which features her famous in-laws Amitabh and Jaya prominently.

"Leader" which is being produced by Amitabh's make-up artist Deepak Sawant, has the senior actor playing as a respected school master of a small village with Jaya as his wife.

Sawant had approached Aishwarya for playing the role of Amitabh's feisty daughter-in-law, Ganga who goes on to be elected as the village head in the film. However, the former Miss World turned down the film offer which eventually went to Bhojpuri actress Pakhi Hegde.

The producer in speaking to Bollywood Now revealed that Aishwarya indeed was his initial choice for the heroine-oriented film and he had even written the film's script with her in mind. But the beautiful actress refused the film and the producer believes that the actress' pregnancy might be the reason behind the film rejection.

Aishwarya, has till date starred in several films alongside her father-in-law, Amitabh, but the actress is yet to share screen with Jaya on the celluloid. "Leader" in which both Amitabh and Jaya feature together, would have been no less than a delight to watch Aishwarya share screen with her actor in-laws.

Reportedly, even Abhishek was offered the role of Big B's onscreen son in the film, but as it appears, he too followed Aishwarya's way and refused the film.

Along with Amitabh, Jaya and Hegde, "Leader" also stars Gulshan Grover in the negative role of a scheming politician and Dinesh Lal plays as Big B's son in the film.
