Cannes Film Festival 2017 has a great line-up this year. A number of movies from across world cinema are being showcased at the annual film festival. But one film has surprised everyone. Noah Baumbach's The Meyerowitz Stories featuring Adam Sandler is creating Oscar buzz among Cannes festival viewers.

The buzz is particularity owing to Sandler's breath-taking performance in the movie. After doing bad movies over years, this movie seems to have broken open the actor's best acting skills and brought to the world his best performance in a while now.

Critics who have watched the movie at Cannes 2017 have been raving about his performance with a few also calling Sandler's acting as Cannes' best performance.

Reviewing the movie, Robbie Collin from Telegraph wrote, "Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller play half-brothers working out family issues in the best Netflix Original film to date. With no shtick to fall back on, Sandler is forced to act, and it's a glorious thing to watch — even for those fans who like him best in perpetual man-child. It's odd to think that the company responsible for "Sandy Wexler" and "The Ridiculous Six" could conceivably earn Sandler his first Oscar nomination — and his best role since "Punch-Drunk Love" played Cannes in 2002."

That is a big deal considering that the industry is yet to release many anticipated movies Dunkirk, Dark Tower and more.

Peter Bradshaw gave the movie a good four stars highlighting that the film's strong ensemble cast, Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler's performances run this movie on their shoulders. But for the reviewer, Stiller outshined Sandler.

"Sandler is very convincing as an unassuming guy with no very great idea or opinion of himself. It shows that he is a formidable screen actor. But it is Ben Stiller who really steals it, with his big speech about his dad. Halfway through, I myself choked up, wondering if Stiller was thinking about his own dad, the great and much-loved comic Jerry Stiller, famous for his appearance in Seinfeld," Bradshaw reviewed.

As soon as the movie concluded, the crowd erupted with a four-minute applause deafening everyone in the hall. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the reception was an emotional experience for the cast and crew of the movie.

Dustin Hoffman, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Emma Thompson all had tears in their eyes after the screening.
