Keeping up with their reputation, Acer has launched another low-budget laptop Acer Aspire E5-511. The latest laptop features a 15.6-inch display with a well-built body.

Featuring a brushed matte finish, the laptop is resistant to fingerprints and smudges and is less prone to scratches as well. But unlike the entire exterior finish, the display features a glossy surface and is a fingerprint magnet.

Measuring 15.02x10.8x11.19-inches, the Aspire E5-511 weighs around 2.5kg, the laptop weighs similar to most of the 15.6-inch laptop.

It features most of its port on the left edge, a USB 3.0, 3.5mm Audio Out, HDMI Out, Gigabit Ethernet port and includes a Kensington lock port. On the right edge the optical DVD drive shares its space with two USB 2.0 ports and the power socket. On the front edge Acer has featured a SD card reader along with the built-in stereo speakers.

The Acer Aspire E5-511 features an island-type keyboard along with a full blown numeric keypad. The keys have been laid sparsely with optimum space between each one to avoid mistyping. Unlike the conventional laptop touchpad's, Aspire E5-511 has placed the touchpad just below the spacebar, which is logical enough but will take some time to get used with.

The Acer Aspire E5-511 is available in three variants and our review unit came equipped with an Intel Quad-Core N3530 processor with 2GB RAM and 500GB of hard drive storage. The Atom-based processor has been coupled with an Intel HD 4400 GPU chipset for handling graphic heavy tasks.

The 15.6-inch display is good enough for watching movies, browsing web, reading books or working long hours for its high definition 1366x768 pixels resolution. It also comes with Windows 8.1 operating system and the most necessarily a HD webcam for recording video or talking through skype or other VOIP application software.

In real life test the Aspire E5-511 proved as a decent performer. We never found any lags while multi-tasking, browsing, watching high-definition streaming video, listening music or playing light weight games. Acer never claimed this laptop is meant for hardcore gaming, rather an office laptop with all-round usage and Aspire E5-511 lives up to the expectation pretty decently.

The keypad is nice to type for long sessions. Though the touchpad misses the dedicated mouse buttons on the touchpad, we never felt awkward while in use. The in-built speakers perform well during music listening or watching movies. However, we will recommend a third party headphone or speaker to get more out of it.

The best feature of the Aspire E5-511 is it's 6 cell battery. Powered by a 5000 mAh 11.1V battery, the E5-511 lasted more than six hours in our benchmarking test. In real life usage, it stayed more than several currently available laptops.

Retailed at ₹24,990 currently, the Acer Aspire E5-511is offers a great price-to-performance ratio and we highly recommend this laptop for its decent looks, overall usage and an outstanding battery life.
