"3 Idiots" (2009), starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, is one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time, and a sequel to the movie is likely now. Director Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed he has plans to make a sequel to "3 Idiots", but has added that it will take time.

The director also said he had plans to make a sequel to "PK". "Initially, I had plans to make 'PK 2', but we don't have any subject for the film. As far as a '3 Idiots' sequel is concerned, Abhijat (Joshi) and I have an idea, but we are yet to develop it. The film will take some time," Hirani told Catch News during the promotions of "Saala Khadoos".

Meanwhile, R Madhavan, who will next be seeen in "Saala Khadoos", also confirmed the making of a "3 Idiots" sequel, adding that he will be a part of the movie. "Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi have a concept ready for the '3 Idiots' sequel, but there has not been any progress in it. Whenever it happens, I will be a part of it," the report quoted Madhavan as saying.

"3 Idiots" also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Boman Irani in key roles. However, there has not been any confirmation on the complete cast of the sequel. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the movie broke several box office records, with a collection of over Rs 200 crore in the domestic market.
