General Motors India updated Chevrolet Beat hatchback by spicing up its interior and adding two new exterior colour options for 2016. The prices of the hatchback has also been revised and now, they cost in the range of Rs 4.28 lakh-Rs 5.55 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The 2016 Beat adds remote keyless entry with foldable key, a driver side airbag for the LT variant, body-coloured door handles and silver interior highlights on lower trims. The two new colours added are red and Steel grey. The top-end version of the Beat LT(O) has now been renamed as LTZ in line with the nomenclature of higher models.

On the safety front, the LT variant gets the driver side airbag, while the LTZ model boasts of passenger and driver side airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).

The powertrains of the car for 2016 remained untouched. The Beat petrol is powered a 1199cc four-cylinder unit that develops 77bhp at 6200rpm and 106.5Nm of torque, while the diesel model is 936cc three-cylinder engine that develops 56bhp at 4000rpm and 124.5Nm of torque at 1750rpm. Both the engines are mated to 5 speed manual transmission. Chevrolet Beat comes with an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 25.44 kmpl for the diesel engine and 17.8 kmpl for the petrol engine.
