Tamil film "Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam" (VVS), which was released during the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend, is rocking the Chennai box office with good collections.

The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer got off to a flying start on the first day of its release and still rules the Chennai box office. "VVS" has also performed well in suburbs, thanks to promotional activities carried out by the makers. Promotions have largely helped the film to get an extraordinary opening.

"VVS" rules the Chennai box office, followed by Hindi release "Shuddh Desi Romance" in the second spot. Ram Charan's "Thoofan", the Telugu version of "Zanjeer", has taken the third spot with a dull opening.

According to Behindwoods, "VVS" has earned more than ₹2 crore from the date of its release till 9 September at the Chennai box office. The average theatre occupancy for the film is 75 percent during the weekends. As there are no big releases, "VVS" has become the first choice of film-goers.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan has confirmed that "VVS" earned over ₹13 crore in just four days of its release in Tamil Nadu. Expressing happiness on the overwhelming response, Siva tweeted, "#VVS collected over 13 crores in 4 days.Heartfelt Thanks to each &everyone who watched it in theatre.tis success bcos of YOU:)thanks again."

Despite getting mixed reviews, the comedy caper has impressed the audience with its entertainment quotient. The film has Siva playing the head of a club called "Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam" (The society of happy youngsters) who is constantly in a tug of war with senior citizens of the village headed by Sathyaraj. Comedian Poratta Soori appears as Siva's sidekick in the club. The film received flak for its lack of storyline, but gained appreciation for the entertainment factor.

The success of "VVS" has placed Siva, who began his career on as popular TV show host, in the top league. This year has been really good for the talented actor, as three of his films have become big hits. He will be next seen in "Maan Karate" (Deer Karate) with south sensation Hansika Motwani.
