Actor Ajith is all set to take up a rural role for his next untitled movie with director "Siruthai" Siva.

The actor, fondly called "Thala" by his fans, has been donning urban-centric roles in most of his movies. But he has decided to try a rural avatar, yielding to his fans' requests to take up such a role.

"He has been working on urban characters in his recent films. For a change, he wanted to try a rural role this time. Many of his fans have requested him to take up such a role. So, his film with Siruthai Siva will be a rural-based script. The crew is also expected to shoot in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, a source close to the actor told The Times of India.

According to latest reports, Ajith has asked his director to tone down the heroism in the film. He has also requested not to have the film's title in the name of his character. Instead, he prefers a title that goes down well with the movie's script.

The film is expected to go on floors in the first week of April. Shooting will commence in Hyderabad, which is said to be Ajith's favourite place.

The actor is currently busy with his upcoming project with "Billa" fame Vishuvardhan. The shooting of the new film tentatively titled "Valai" is progressing at a brisk pace. After a long schedule in Dubai, the film's crew is set to resume their next schedule in Mumbai.

The movie's star cast includes Arya, Nayanthara and Taapsee. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

It is likely to get released in June or July this year.
