The final countdown for the release of the much-hyped film, "Chennai Express" has begun with just two more days left before hitting the theatres. It will be released in over 3,500 screens in India and 700 screens abroad, including unconventional markets like Peru, Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel.

The film was scheduled for release on 8 August but was postponed by a day to coincide with Eid festival.

There is lots of curiosity around the film, as it is Shah Rukh Khan's only release of the year and his second outing with actress Deepika Padukone after Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om". King Khan has scaled down his workload of late, doing only one film a year. His only film of 2012 was "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".

Controversies:

The film hit the headlines recently after reports surfaced that music directors of the movie, Vishal-Shekar were not happy with Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly roping in rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh for the film's promotional track, "Lungi Dance". It also almost ran into trouble with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) with the outfit threatening to halt the screening of the film if its makers take away the showtime of Marathi film, "Duniyadari". The issue was solved after director Rohit Shetty met MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
