Here is some bad news and good news for fans of Zee TV's "Jodha Akbar": the historical show will soon be pulled off air.

The good news is that the popular show that airs at 8 pm will be replaced by a new show "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" that has Drashti Dhami and Siddhant Karnick in lead roles. The show will be aired from 27 July, reports Telly Chakkar.

"Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" has been making a huge buzz ever since the promo was aired, making fans of the gorgeous actress of "Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon" fame eagerly wait for the show.

Meanwhile, the team of "Jodha Akbar" will wrap up shoot on 15 July.

Of late, there were speculations that the show is likely to be pulled off mainly due to the drastic fall in the ratings.

Besides, there were reports that the show's important characters were likely to get replaced. Further, there were rumours the lead actress Paridhi Sharma's (Jodha) contract was expiring soon, which could be another reason why the makers have planned to shut it down.

"Jodha Akbar" is a sixteenth century love story and a political marriage between Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha.

However, the show has been under the scanner for transforming a historic period into a TV series and has drawn a lot of flak, especially from the Rajput community.
