YU launched its all-new Yunique smartphone on Tuesday to compete with low-budget devices in the market, including its own Micromax Canvas Spark. YU Televentures is an online-only sub-brand of Micromax, which sells its affordable Canvas Spark exclusively on Snapdeal. The newly-released YU Yunique will also be sold on Snapdeal in weekly flash sales.

The smartphone offering for the same price is bound to confuse buyers. To help them overcome it, we compare both the Micromax Canvas Spark and the YU Yunique by their individual specifications.

Display

The Micromax Canvas Spark features a 4.7-inch qHD display with 960 x 540 pixel screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The YU Yunique features the same screen size but pumps up the resolution to 1280 x 720 pixels with 312ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Yunique smartphone is touted as the cheapest HD screen smartphone.

Camera

Both smartphones have identical camera sensors. YU's new phone packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture lens and Full HD recording and a 2MP front shooter, with f/2.4 aperture to cater your need for selfies.

The Micromax Canvas Spark also offers an 8MP rear snapper but only supports HD recording and has a 2MP front shooter.

Battery

A 2,000mAh battery serves both Canvas Spark and Yunique, with a promise to deliver up to seven hours of talk time. Buyers wouldn't be losing much in this category, regardless of their choice.

Processor

The Micromax Canvas Spark is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 MediaTek MT6582M processor, while the Yunique smartphone gets a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.

RAM and Storage

In order to support individual chipsets, 1GB DDR3 RAM is packed inside each smartphone in this comparison. On the storage front, both handsets have 8GB onboard memory with expandable option up to 32GB.

Software

The Micromax Canvas Spark runs on Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop and the YU Yunique goes a step further by running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. In addition to that, the Yunique seamlessly supports Cyanogen OS 12.1 FOTA download for those who would like to customise their smartphones.

Pricing and Availability

As we already know, the Micromax Canvas Spark and the YU Yunique are priced at Rs 4,999. Both handsets are exclusively available on Snapdeal in weekly flash sales but on different days. The YU Yunique will be available in its first sale on Snapdeal next Tuesday, 15 September at 12 noon. As for the Canvas Spark, the handset is available on Wednesdays at 12 noon.
