Top shuttlers from around the world have come to India to participate in Yonex Sunrise India Open 2015 including players such as Jan Jorgensen, Lin Dan, Viktor Axelsen, Carolina Marin and Liu Xin among others.

With the tournament being held in India, there are a number of Indians in both the men's and the women's category fighting it out for the prestigious title.

There are huge expectations from India's Saina Nehwal, who is the top seeded player in women's singles, while Kidambi Srikanth has been seeded second in the men's category. Both the Indians have been impressive during the year, though Saina Nehwal was unlucky and finish runners up in the 2015 All England Championship.

But Srikanth did turn out triumphant as he recently won the Swiss Open, and hence the Indian would be eager to carry on his form for this competition as well.

Srikant is expected to win his first match of the competition today, as he faces world number 19 Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk from Thailand. But the Indian will not take it easy as he has lost once against the Thailand shuttler as well.

The Indian shuttler seems to in be confident mood ahead of the competition. "I have been trying hard and was lucky too. I think having good six to seven Indian players has helped me to grow. But it was beating Lin Dan in his own country that boosted my confidence a lot. I won the Swiss Open and I hope to continue the good run here," PTI quoted him as saying.

He hopes to win the Indian Open. "I feel that I can win any GPG tournament. My focus is on the India Open now. A win will be the most satisfying thing this week."

Another top shuttler, Saina Nehwal will play her first match of the competition later today, as she faces qualifier Riya Mukherjee. Obviously, Nehwal would walk into the game as favourite, but Nehwal needs to concentrate on building up the confidence for the tournament, where she is expected to go full distance.

Carolina Marin and Liu Xin could prove to be her biggest threat in the competition.

Sai Praneeth Bhamidipati will start the proceedings as the Indian takes on sixth seed of the competition from Denmark, Viktor Axelsen.
