Ruhanika Dhawan has garnered appreciation for her portrayal of Ruhi in "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein", but it's apparently time for her to leave the show.

The real reason behind Ruhi missing from the show for a while is that she is now focusing on her academics.

"Ruhi is concentrating on her studies now. As she is in another grade now, her study load has also increased. She comes only on the weekends to shoot and that too not for long hours. She also won't be seeing Romi's (Aly Goni) wedding as we shot the sequence in weekday and Ruhi wasn't available. As much as we want Ruhi to be part of the show we can't expect it to take a toll from her studies," a source from the unit informed IANS.

If Ruhanika were to let go of "YHM", the makers may have to take the much-dreaded leap as there isn't any other way they can explain their -- Gautam Ahuja (Aditya), Ruhanika -- perennial absence from the show. Fans too went berserk over the leap news and took to social media protesting about it.

Divyanka Tripathi (Ishita Bhalla) too wasn't pleased with the drastic shift and had reportedly said she wasn't comfortable playing mother to grown-up kids.

While talking to Tellychakkar a couple of months ago, an insider informed, "Not immediately, but come July or August and viewers will see a leap. The kids will grow up and the plot will turn more dramatic. Currently the creatives are working to wrap up ongoing tracks."

Also, a few reports have hinted that Ruhi and Aditya's characters may come to an end post-leap.
