Peter Pan

In a film where Jude Law is all set to play Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi has bagged the role of the fairy Tinkerbell. David Lowery who earlier directed Pete's Dragon for Disney will also be one of the co-writers of the film along with Toby Halbrooks. The excited actress revealed the news on Instagram while sharing a photo of herself looking away from the camera. Good wishes poured in from all her fans as soon as the trend started on social media.

This isn't the first time, the viewers have taken a trip to Neverland. We have only listed three of the best films about JM Barries realm of Peter Pan, Neverland and the lost boys.

Finding Neverland

Finding Neverland pens the journey of author JM Barrie and how the idea dawned upon him to tell the story of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Helmed by Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp, the film had become an emotional journey to Neverland. Barrie was suffering from the terrible writer's block and his habit of daydreaming had emotionally (and later legally) distanced him from his wife. As a playwright, he was unable to come up with fresh ideas to bring in more audience. It was a sudden encounter at the park with Sylvia and her children which gave him new perspectives. She later remained in the memory of the author as Wendy.

Much before the era of memes started in the realm of social media, the ending sequence of Finding Neverland had left a space in our memory for a character who passed away and chose to live in author JM Barrie's Neverland.

Peter Pan (2003)

PJ Hogan's Peter Pan helmed by Jeremy Sumpter, Rachel Hurd Wood and Jason Isaac was a word by word cinematographical penning of what Peter Pan was meant to be, if ever if happened on screen. It explored Wendy's relationship, communication with a grown-up man such as Hook, and with the boy who never grew up, Peter Pan. Somewhere, it was Wendy's innate maturity which attracted the lost boys towards her, meanwhile stubborn Peter Pan chose to stay in Neverland while secretly peeking at Wendy.

For adults, the film was a different kind of experience where we learn about a girl's feeling towards a grown-up man and a young boy while dealing with her own brothers. For young children, this film gave them a chance again to believe in fairies.

Hook

Steven Speilberg's directorial Hook starring Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams is a comedy that explores a different concept. What if Peter Pan grew up, but remained in the company of the lost boys. Despite a stellar cast, idea and performance Hook was an experience that required its audience to be in a separate mood, since this film does not take the word by word instructions from JM Barrie's novel, rather borrows the characters, the land but develops its own concept.

Not every viewer was able to feast their eyes, as many went into the cinema halls with certain expectations. What if the world of Pirates of the Caribbean had a middle-aged Peter Pan in it? There would be a fluctuation in the narrative of the film, isn't it? It would be like a conversation with the most whimsical person. Not everyone is able to come out from with a good experience, considering that many viewers visit the theatres just to have a good time.
