Xiaomi Unveils Cheaper Redmi 2A Model with Leadcore SoC; Price, Specifications

Popular Chinese smartphone Xiaomi, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the company's founding day, has launched a new Redmi 2 variant on 31 March.

The new Redmi 2A is identical to the original Redmi 2 in terms of exterior body design and inside too, it houses pretty much the same specifications except the CPU. The former ships with the 1.5GHz Leadcore (L1860C) quad-core Cortex A7 SoC (System on Chip), whereas the latter features 64-bit class Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 series quad-core processor.

Other stipulated features include 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory, 8mp camera on the rear-side, a 2mp snapper on the front and a 2,200mAh battery.

Xiaomi Redmi 2A price and release details:

The company has confirmed that the new Xiaomi Redmi 2A will be made available in China on 8 April for a special one-day offer price - around ₹5,040 (¥499/$81/€75/) and from the next day it will cost around ₹6,050 (¥599/$96.7/€90/).

Will Xiaomi Redmi 2A Release in India?

It is believed that the Chinese company in its bid to achieve 100 million device sales, launched the new Redmi 2A, so we believe Xiaomi, which considers India as the second biggest smartphone market, is likely to release the new phone.

The company has already announced to release the limited edition top-end Redmi 2 model (with 2GB RAM) later this year in India.
