Xiaomi sold more than 1 million devices in just three weeks, the popular Chinese smartphone-maker announced on Wednesday.

Impressed with the feat of the Xiaomi India team, company head Lei Jun congratulated Hugo Barra (VP, global) and Mani Kumar Jain, the chief of India team, and also thanked e-commerce partners Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal.

"I am confident that with the sustained efforts of our entire Xiaomi family, we will be able to capture the largest market share in India within 3-5 years! Mi India, let's make history together!," Jun said in an open letter to Xiaomi India employees.

The record-breaking sales of Xiaomi devices were palpable, considering the fact that the company offered huge discounts and exchange deals on popular the Redmi Note 3, Mi Max, Redmi 3S and Mi 5 during the pre-festive sale campaign initiated by Flipkart (Big Billion Days), Amazon (Great Indian Festival) and Snapdeal (Unbox Diwali) in the first three weeks of October.

Xiaomi is also currently conducting a 'Diwali with Mi' sale, offering feature-rich gadgets at subsidised price and some for just Re. 1.

Buoyed by the response, Amazon has initiated a second-round of festival sale, and Snapdeal too started the third round on October 19.

That said, Xiaomi's top selling phones — the Redmi Note 3, Mi Max and Redmi 3S Prime series — are in no way sub-par in user-experience or quality. They are the most cost-effective phones in their respective segments. They boast top-notch build quality, powerful processor, a massive battery and a decent camera at the rear.
