Xiaomi smartphone rumours are on the rise of late, and fans are eager to know more about the upcoming devices. After a series of rumours and leaked reports about Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2 Prime, a new device has just popped up online at the Geekbench website, hinting at a new budget device by Xiaomi.

Codenamed Kenzo, the handset appears to be the successor for the widely-popular Redmi 2 smartphone. According to GforGames, Redmi 3 will be official sometime next year, just like the company's flagship Mi 5 smartphone.

As per the device details listed on the Geekbench site, Redmi 3 will be powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset, same as HTC One A9. The major hint about the processor comes from the motherboard name on the Geekbench listing, which is MSM8952. Other details include a 2GB RAM and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

With these specs, Kenzo aka Redmi 3 scored 1,420 on single-core and 3,420 on multi-core tests.

There are limited details about the Redmi 3 at the moment, but rumours are rife with Mi 5 details. The most recent report showed a leaked image of the metal-clad Mi 5 with unique design elements such as dual grille for speakers, USB port at the centre, Home button with a metal ring and fingerprint scanner, and extremely thin bezels.

Rumours suggest Xiaomi will integrate Apple's 3D Touch-like technology in its Mi 5 smartphone and that it would be the first handset by the company to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The handset is expected to be launched on 21 January, and all the details about the phone will be clear by then.
