Almost all popular smartphone brands , to name a few - Apple, Samsung, Google and others - have unveiled their flagship devices, but Xiaomi is yet to announce the company's 2015 series marquee phone Mi5, which is due for almost four months now.

Its predecessor Mi4 was unveiled in July 2014. Now, we are at the fag end of the year and yet there is no word on when Xiaomi Mi5 would get launched.

Word on the street is that Xiaomi Mi5's launch got deferred due to the unavailability of the device's main component — Snapdragon 820 CPU.

Now, a report has surfaced online that Qualcomm is expected to unveil the new generation chipset on 20 November, inciting excitement among Xiaomi fans.

To provide a proper perspective on the upcoming device Mi5, we have sifted through multiple reports and reliable sources to line up all the probable features, which are most likely to make the cut in the Xiaomi device.

Display:

Xiaomi Mi5 is said to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560x1440p) display. It does not come as a surprise to many because the 2K resolution screen is now an industry standard. Even the company's flagship Mi Note Pro boasts same screen resolution.

Processor, RAM and storage capacity:

As said before, Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to come packed with the new generation of Snapdragon 820 processor.

Recently leaked AnTuTu benchmark results (courtesy, G for Games) have shown that S820 is 1.38x and 1.77x times more than the predecessor Snapdragon 810 in the single threaded integer and single threaded floating point tests.

Snapdragon 820 will be backed by Adreno 530 graphics engine and sumptuous 4GB RAM, which will make Xiaomi Mi5, a device to reckon with.

Mi 5 is expected to come in 32GB and 64GB storage models.

Mobile Operating System:

Xiaomi Mi5 is most likely to come with either v5.1.1 Lollipop (MIUI 7) or v6.0 OS (MIUI 8.0) out-of-the-box.

Camera:

Numerous reports have indicated that Xiaomi Mi5 will feature a 16MP camera with dual-LED flash on the rear-side and a 5MP wide-angle snapper on the front.

Battery:

Xiaomi Mi5 is said to house a 3030 mAh battery and come with quick charge technology.

3030 mAh battery power sounds too low for a device with QHD display, so there is a chance that Xiaomi might incorporate some power saving feature in MIUI to extend the battery life.

Value –added feature:

Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to boast an advanced biometric security technology – Qualcomm's Sense ID.

It is a 3D fingerprint system, which is said to be more advanced than the one present in the current crop of tier-1 brands like Apple and Samsung phones.
