Xiaomi Mi 6 handset as seen on the company's website (Chinese)Xiaomi

Xiaomi Mi 6 is one of the most desirable and affordable flagships in the market, but the Chinese tech giant is making way for yet another flagship variant. Recently on GFXBench site, Xiaomi Jason smartphone had made an appearance with all of its specs and now there are developing reports on the phone.

According to a MyDrivers report, Xiaomi Jason will launch as Xiaomi Mi 6X sometime in August. Since the handset has already made a pit stop at the popular benchmarking site, we know all the possible specs of the phone. But plans to launch a cheaper variant of Mi 6 were already debunked by the company, which makes us question the authenticity of this latest leak.

Since the leak looks prominent, there's a possibility Xiaomi Mi 6X might be real. If that's the case, GFXBench listing revealed that it will be one of the first few handsets to sport Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 660 chipset.

The handset will feature a 5.1-inch Full HD display, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The optics include a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 4MP front snapper. It's clear that the specifications of Mi 6 have been toned down for Mi 6X, but the design aspect of the phone remains unclear at the moment.

Other features highlighted by GFXBench include connectivity options such as NFC, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. Sensors include accelerometer, light, proximity and gyro.

With all these specifications, Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to be priced competitively. If the report is right, Mi 6X will hit the market for around ¥1,999. It is obvious that the phone will make its debut in China, but it might even be possible that the company will expand Mi 6X's availability to other markets such as India, where there's popular demand for affordable handsets.
