Xiaomi has made phenomemal strides in the world of smartphones, becoming one of the most popular smartphone-makers in the world in the space of just a few years. It has released a series of devices this year too, and the latest to be added to the list are the Mi Note 2 and the Mi MIX. Now, talks about the company's flagship model, dubbed the Mi 6, have started.

The Chinese technology giant hasn't revealed anything about the upcoming device, but it is likely to be released in the first quarter of next year, if Xiaomi's track record is anything to go by. The smartphone is expected to be released at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017), scheduled to start on February 26 in Barcelona, Spain.

Spiking curiosity among Mi fans, Xiaomi has run a poll to choose one of the three specification combinations for the upcoming Mi 6. The first combination comprises a light metal body + Qualcomm Snapdragon 8xx + 20MP camera + 32GB ROM + 4 GB RAM; the second one has a curved glass body + Qualcomm Snapdragon 65x + 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM + dual cameras with OIS; while the third one has a light metal body + Qualcomm Snapdragon 65x + 64GB ROM + 6GB RAM + dual cameras sans OIS.

Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to have several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 5 that was released in April this year.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch full HD screen with 1,920x1,080 pixel (428 ppi pixel density), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and runs an Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI v7.0 operating system.

The device also features a 32GB internal storage, a 3GB RAM, 16MP Sony IMX298 main camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/2.8" sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, a 4MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3" sensor size and 2µm pixel size, and a 3,000mAh with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
