UPDATE

Xbox Live and PSN are still offline after Lizard Squad's DDoS attack.

"We're aware that some of you are still having trouble; our teams are on the case!" said a Twitter post on Xbox Support.

"We are working to restore full network services for all platforms - thanks, as always, for your patience!" said a Twitter post on Ask PlayStation.

Players can follow these both Twitter handles to be updated on the status of the Xbox Live and PSN networks.

Original Story:

Xbox Live and PlayStation Network (PSN) were affected on Christmas Day after Lizard Squad, a hacker group, took down both with a DDoS attack. However, according to reports Xbox Live and PSN are now up and running, atleast for some.

This was one of the biggest attacks on the networks lasting for over 24 hours. A deal between Twitter user, DotCom, founder of Megaupload and Lizard Squad paved the way for Xbox Live and PSN going online. The deal entailed DotCom giving away 3000 Mega lifetime premium vouchers for all the Lizard Squad members in exchange for letting Xbox Live and PSN stay online, Gamepur reported.

Lizard Squad had previously promised its members that it will be taking down Xbox Live and PSN during Christmas.

However, the official Xbox Live Status website has put "Limited" connectivity in its status message and says that players are likely to face difficulty in "Signing into Xbox Live."

"Xbox members, are you experiencing issues when attempting to sign in? We're aware of this issue, and we're working to find a fix ASAP! We appreciate your patience in the meantime, and we encourage you to retry signing in when you get a chance," an updated message from Xbox Live reads.

PSN users too are facing similar issues with the network. It is still down and the message on the official PSN Status still reads "Offline."

It also carries a note that reads, "We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulty logging into the PSN. We will update this article with any changes that occur in regards to this issue. Thank you for your patience." Twitter user, Ask PlayStation promised members that it is still investigating the issues.
