The Internet is flooded with theories on when George RR Martin's latest in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, entitled "Winds of Winter" will be released. But a date is yet to be announced, and fans of the fantasy series are hoping it would be sometime before the next season of "Game of Thrones" is premiered.

The sixth novel will address the cliffhangers from "A Dance with Dragons" very early on, meaning fans wouldn't have to wait long to know if Jon Snow survives his Night's Watch brothers' betrayal.

Although "Game of Thrones", the HBO television series based on Martin's books, is expected to diverge from its source material, a section of fans are eager for the book to be published before the show is aired sometime in early 2016. The HBO series has already revealed a few spoilers from "Winds of Winter" and die-hard Martin fans aren't pleased.

A good number of them took to Martin's blog to comment about how disappointed they were about the changes and spoilers in "Game of Thrones", and Martin responded saying he has no control of what goes on in the television series.

"I cannot control what anyone else says or does, or make them stop saying or doing it, be it on the fannish or professional fronts," Martin wrote on his blog. "What I can control is what happens in my books, so I am going to return to that chapter I've been writing on THE WINDS OF WINTER now, thank you very much."

Recently, Martin opened up about his vision for "A Song of Ice and Fire" and revealed that he already knows how he wants to end the series.

"I haven't written the ending yet, so I don't know, but no. That's certainly not my intent," Martin told the Observer about the possibility of the fantasy series ending in some kind of an apocalypse. "I've said before that the tone of the ending that I'm going for is bittersweet. I mean, it's no secret that Tolkien has been a huge influence on me, and I love the way he ended Lord of the Rings. It ends with victory, but it's a bittersweet victory."
