Watch Yonex Sunrise India Open Live Round 2: Parupalli Kashyap vs Xue Song and Kidambi Srikanth vs Kento Momota Live Streaming Information

The first day of the Yonex Sunrise Indian Open proved to be good for Indian shuttlers with some of them doing extremely well, while some were shown the exit doors. However, the highlight of the day was Indian qualifier Sameer Verma's victory over Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in straight sets.

Top Indian shuttlers such as Saina Nehwal in the women's category and Kidami Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap showed some great form to walk into the second round of the competition as well.

The two Indian men are once again going to be in action later today as Parupalli Kashyap is set to take on Chinese Xue Song. Kashyap defeated Hsu Jen Hao in a tight game with the game being stretched to three sets. The score read 16-21, 21-19 and 21-18.

The Indian is expected to beat Song and reach the next round of the competition.

It is the injuries, which has plagued him of late, but the Indian is eager to win this title.  "I was very confident after the Syed Modi. I played two tournaments and I won one. I feel that any GPG tournament I can win but unfortunately, because of injury I had to withdraw from German and Swiss Open. But now I want to win the India Super Series," The Times of India quoted Kashyap as saying prior to the tournament.

"My focus is on the India Open now. But it has been one month where I have played a proper tournament. I always feel good playing in India, I like the crowd, the pressure helps to pump me up. But I am not thinking ahead and looking to get better every day. I know I can win."

There is no doubt about Kashyap's potential, as he also won the 2015 Indian Open Grand Prix Gold earlier in the year and if the player plays to his full potential, he might clinch the title.

But in order to win the title, he has to come up with an A game to defeat top shuttlers from around the world including India with the likes of Kidambi Srikanth looking in fine form, who also won the Swiss Open recently.

Srikanth progressed into round 2 of the competition after defeating Thai player Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in straight sets. Srikanth will face Japanese player Kento Momota for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Having brushed aside the Thai in the first round of the competition, the Indian should not be in any form of discomfort against the Japanese.

Sania Nehwal and HS Pranoy will both be in action today with Nehwal facing Gadde Ruthvika and Pranoy facing the top seed of the singles competition Jan Jorgensen.
