Bangladesh will look to bounce back from their defeat to Sri Lanka when they face ScotlandReuters

Bangladesh will look to make a push for a quarterfinal place, while Scotland will continue the hunt for their first ever CWC win when the two teams clash in a Pool A ICC Cricket World Cup match on Thursday.

While Scotland have lost all of their games so far at this World Cup, Bangladesh will try to pick up their second victory and fourth and fifth points of the tournament in Nelson.

Bangladesh eased past Afghanistan in their first match, before the game against Australia was abandoned. They received a point as a result, but were then completely outclassed by Sri Lanka in their last match.

Mashrafe Mortaza's men will know they need to improve from that performance, and Scotland gives them a pretty good opportunity of getting back to winning ways.

"Yeah, we expect to win. When we lost, we also lost some confidence," said Mashrafe. "So this is an opportunity to win this match and go with some confidence into the game against England."

England and Bangladesh are likely to fight it out for the final quarterfinal berth in Pool B, with New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka looking certainties for the first three places.

A win over Scotland will take them just that bit closer, with that match against England then turning into a "win and you go to the quarters contest."

For Scotland, who have lost their first three matches – the last of them coming heartbreakingly to Afghanistan -- this will be about proving to the world and themselves they belong on the biggest stage of them all. And, you never know, a win over Bangladesh and a ridiculously unforgettable run can never be ruled out – at least that is what the Scots will be telling themselves.

"That Afghanistan game was very difficult to get over," said Scotland captain Preston Mommsen on Wednesday. "Obviously there were times in that game we were going to win and then it slipped away from us and got back and then slipped away again.

"To lose that game was very disappointing for all the 15 players, but we've had a good couple of days' break, clean break from cricket, some of the boys have gone up north, seen some of the beautiful beaches in Nelson and just taken their minds off cricket.

"We came back to training yesterday nice and refreshed and the boys are ready to go for tomorrow."
