The Great Britain pairing of Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot only needed a victory against the US pair of Bob and Mike Bryan on Day 2 of the World Group Davis Cup tie to reach the next round of the competition.

Despite putting up an amazing performance, the GB pair lost the match in three hours and 37 minutes with the score reading 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-7 (8-10) 9-7. With this victory, the US have a chance to progress as well if they win the remaining two singles on Day 3 .

But, the US are aware of the uphill task, after both their singles players' lost their first rubber. Andy Murray defeated 6-1 6-1 4-6 6-2 to give them a 1-0 lead on Friday. The second singles on the same day was a competitive one, where James Ward came back into the game to win 6-7 (5-7) 5-7 6-3 7-6 (7-3) 15-13 and take Britain's lead to 2-0.

Andy Murray can well wrap up the game for the Brit if he manages to defeat John Isner in the first match of the day today. But, expect the US player to come out all guns blazing against world number 5, who put up an emphatic display on the first game of the tie against Donald Young.

Andy's brother, Jamie Murray said, "John Isner is going to be a tough, tough test," as quoted by BBC.

"He's pushed Andy before, he's going to serve well against anyone -- even one of the best returners in the world -- and if he gets to a breaker and catches fire with one return, it's difficult.

"Andy is going to be well aware that he's going to have to play very good tennis, but I do think it's well set up for him."

US captain Jim Courier is a fighter and would not allow his team to go without a fight. Courier said, "He's (Isner) good."

"He was well prepared that he's going to be playing on Sunday, that these guys [the Bryans] were likely to win. He should be ready."

If Isner manages to pull it off against Murray, the last game of the competition between James Ward and Donald Young would virtually be a final, where the winner takes it all clash.

The home crowd at Emirates Arena, Glasgow have been supporting the team like no other and have been a huge strength to Team GB, who are looking for a quarter-final berth against France, who have already progressed after defeating Germany 3-0 in the first round.
