San Diego Comic-Con International key art for season six of AMC's "The Walking Dead" has been released, and it hints at a showdown between Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes and Lennie James's Morgan.
The art shows fan favourites such as Abraham, Eugene, Tara, Rosita, Carl, Michonne, Carol, Sasha, Maggie, Glenn and Daryl on one side along with Rick, while Morgan is trailed by Father Gabriel, Deanna, Aaron, Jesse, and Spencer.
Season 5 finale saw Daryl bringing back Morgan to Alexandria Safe Zone just as Rick had killed someone, and Morgan's changed personality is going to ensure that Rick and his former friend come to blows.
"Morgan's story will be interesting because he was clearly a homicidal maniac when we saw him in 'Clear,'and now he's transformed into this Zen warrior and someone who is able to survive, who is able to take on multiple people with his fighting staff, but he's not someone who really wants to have to kill anyone," executive producer Gale Anne Hurd told The Hollywood Reporter.
"When he encounters Rick, it looks to him like Rick just killed another human being in cold blood, execution style. There could be some interesting encounters given how their roles have reversed," she added.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman too echoed similar sentiments saying Rick and Morgan will have a completely different relationship in season 6.
"And it's the questions of how they're going to interact, how they're going to work together—if they're going to work together—and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of season six," Kirkam told The Wrap.
Based on the promo art, it seems like the dynamics within Rick's group will change now that Morgan has returned.
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC in October, and the first few episodes are going to be walker heavy. Photographs from filming location have revealed that walkers will be attacking Alexandria Safe Zone early on in the season, and Rick and gang will have to prevent them from taking over their newfound home.
