There's no stopping Mohun Bagan at the moment as the defending Federation Cup champions eye retaining their title later this month. The Mariners thrashed East Bengal 2-0 in the semifinals on Sunday, May 14, to set up a clash in the final of the Indian football competition, against Bengaluru FC on May 21.

Mohun Bagan star Sony Norde remained one of the key figures in the Kolkata derby at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha, on Sunday, despite not appearing on the scoresheet.

Darryl Duffy and Balwant Singh remained the scorers for Mohun Bagan. The 27-year-old Haitian forward Sony Norde also played an integral part as he was involved in creative passing ahead of both goals as well as remained ferocious from the set-pieces, giving East Bengal custodian Subhasish Roy Chowdhury a headache throughout the match.

Mohun Bagan fans are now paying tributes to Norde by giving him the title of 'Bahubali' after the SS Rajamouli-directed Indian film that is sending shockwaves in world cinema at the moment. 

In an interesting meme, Norde is seen in the attire of Baahubali, a role made legendary by Telugu actor Prabhas. The photo is now going viral.

Norde will be keen once again to make a stunning impact in the Federation Cup 2017 final against Bengaluru FC as well. Mohun Bagan fans treat the Haitian as the one of the best players in the current roster, responsible for the meteoric rise of the club since their I-League title-winning 2015 season.
