Speculations over the release of Vikram's "I" have finally ended with its cinematographer PC Sreeram announcing the date, and now the movie is likely to clash with Ajith's "Yennai Arindhaal".

PC Sreeram, on Twitter, wrote, "9th January 2015 we will all be blessed with "I". A red letter day for Indian cinema." This has put an end to the rumours, which claimed that the film will be released on 14 January.

Earlier, it was said that the makers of "Yennai Arindhaal", who wanted to release the film on 14 January, advanced the release date to 8 January to avoid clashes with "I". But the latest development shows that the makers of Vikram's "I" are eyeing the long Pongal weekend.

It is not sure whether the makers of "Yennai Arindhaal" will release the film as planned before.

Both "I" and "Yennai Arindhaal" are big in its own terms. While Vikram's film is made with a huge-budget and has generated a huge curiosity with its trailer and movie stills, Ajith's flick has generated positive vibes with its first look and teaser.

Apart from "Yennai Arindhaal" and "I", there are a few more films, which will be releasing during the festival time. Karthi's "Kombam", Vishal's "Aambala" and Sivakarthikeyan's "Kakki Sattai" will also release for Pongal 2015.

However, industry insiders feel that many movies, which have now announced its presence in the Pongal race now, will back out to avoid a clash with biggies. While Vikram's "I" and Ajith's "Yennai Arindhaal" will get best screens, others will have to fight very hard in order to get every single screen for its release.
