On Wednesday night, news of veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passing away, after a prolonged illness flooded the internet. Members from the industry condoled the demise of the actor. The actor is in critical condition and not dead.

The Hum Dil Chuke Sanam actor is receiving treatment at Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital for the past few weeks.
Vikram Gokhale's family friend Rajesh Damale told IndiaToday.in, "In the last 24 hours, his health has been very critical. The doctors are trying their best. He is fighting for last the 24 hours. Multiple organ failure has been reported. Updates will be shared as and when there is a development in his health. He is not responding to the medicines as expected by the doctors. However, the doctors are trying hard for his revival."
PRO Shirish Yadkikar, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, said, "A meeting between Vikram Gokhale's family and doctors took place this morning at 10am. The actor is very much alive but critical and on the ventilator. News of his demise is wrong," reports ANI.
Back in August of this year, the veteran actor and his nephew Yashwant Gaikwad donated two acres of land to the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Film Corporation, intending to give artists a rightful place in their retirement. As per reports, an old-age home and an open stage for performances by artists will be constructed in this space at Nane village in Mulshi taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra.

Vikram Gokhale's iconic television shows include Singhasan, Virrudh and Sanjivani among others. He is popularly known for his performance in the serial Udaan, which aired on Doordarshan.
Vikram essayed the role of Aishwarya Rai's father in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Vikram Gokhale has worked in many Hindi films like Khuda Gawah, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, Dil Se, De Dana Dan, Hichki.
In 2013, he received the Best Actor Award for the Marathi film Anumati.
