Vijender Singh's second professional bout, which was originally scheduled for 30 October at Harrow Leisure Centre in London, has been rescheduled to 7 November. Vijender and his opponent Dean Gillen, who are both preparing for their clash, will have to wait for a week before they can lay hands on one another.

Though the exact reason for the postponement remains unknown, Vijender stated that it might have been done due to 'technical reasons'.

"My bout has been rescheduled for November 7 due to some technical reasons," Vijender told PTI.

This might come as a disappointment to boxing fans from India, as they were waiting for 30 October to witness Vijender in action.

The fight between the two relatively new pro boxers has been referred to as "Battle of the Badges", as Vijender is a Deputy Superintendent with the Haryana Police and Gillen is a Nottingham firefighter. Hence, their pride will be on the line on 7 November.

Both the boxers come into this fight with full confidence after their terrific start to their professional career. Gillen has had two fights previously and emerged victorious on both counts. Vijender came up with a sensational performance in his debut against Sony Whiting, who lost via technical knockout.

Vijender is aware of the tough and competitive nature of pro circuit and hence did not waste any time after his first victory. He started his preparations for his second fight immediately, which reflects the determination of the Indian boxer.

It is such determination that has helped him come up with some sensational performance in big events at the amateur level for India, where he won the 2008 Olympic Games bronze medal and 2010 Asian Games gold medal along with other achievements in the Commonwealth games.

However, Vijender's leap from amateur level to pro boxing is a gigantic step in his career. There is a certain level of fitness that is required along with a particular technique in the pro level, which Vijender is learning under the guidance of his trainer Lee Beard.

Now that Vijender's second bout has been postponed by a week, he is sure to use this period to sharpen his skills and come up with an even better performance against Gillen on 7 November.
