The Crew 2
Ubisoft at E3 2017: Key announcements and highlights of the eventUbisoft

Ubisoft has come out with some massively fan-favourite AAA game titles this year at the E3, besides striking a partnership with Nintendo for a new VR game from Elijah Wood's film studio. It is no surprise that we got to see the biggest games at the expo, including the highly-anticipated Far Cry 5 and Assassin's Creed Origins, as Ubisoft seems to have set the right tone for the gaming fanatics at the E3.

We bring you a sneak peek of Ubisoft's key announcements and highlights from the biggest gaming extravaganza in the world:

The Crew 2

Ubisoft has kept its racing genre alive with the launch of The Crew 2, which is a direct sequel to 2014's open world racing game, The Crew. Push your speed limits and the driving skills to stern test with a variety of raceable vehicles, including cars, planes, boats, dirt bikes and more.

The Crew 2 could pose a stiff challenge to EA Games' Need for Speed: Payback, which was unveiled at EA Play press conference. The second instalment in the Crew franchise mimics the gameplay elements of Inception: Extreme Sports Edition with stunning graphics and visual detail.

In contrast, Need for Speed: Payback brings the hybrid experience of GTA-style combat and adrenaline filled moments flicked straight out of the Fast and Furious movie franchise.

Coming to The Crew 2, you might indulge in off-road racing as well as test your piloting skills in an airplane race across the skies of Manhattan. Although the game is due for 2018 release, interested gamers may grab the beta membership for The Crew 2 by submitting an online application to Ubisoft via the official website.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

The eagerly-awaited sequel to 2003's classic Sci-Fi action game, Beyond Good and Evil, may have to wait a bit longer than anticipated as Ubisoft has actually launched the prequel to the original game. The new instalment in Ubisoft's Sci-Fi franchise is titled Beyond Good and Evil 2, despite being a prequel to the first game.

As The Verge reports, the game just got an exciting new trailer with the Fifth Element vibe at this year's E3. However, there is still no word on its precise release date.

Skull and Bones – New multiplayer game

Ubisoft might have been inspired by the blockbuster movie franchise Pirates of The Caribbean as we have been promised a new seafaring multiplayer game known as Skull and Bones, which is based on the pirate theme. The game is set for 2018 release wherein you will not only fight fellow pirates across the seven seas, but also contend with the Kraken as you embark on your quest to conquer the riches across the world.

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 would be set in the state of Montana in America wherein the newly released teaser videos confirm the game has indeed been shot in the suburbs of rural America.

Coming to the in-game mechanics, avid gamers would be thrilled with the prospect of flying airplanes and indulging in aerial combat in Far Cry 5. It should come as a drastic promotion from using jeeps and airboats in Far Cry 2 to hang gliders and elephants in Far Cry 4.

There are very sparse details about the protagonist and the key plot in the game. However, it is clear that the gameplay revolves around a religious cult theme akin to The Last Supper as depicted in the Far Cry 5 official artwork.

You will also get a buddy and a pet dog named Boomer to assist you in all your quests and battles. The buddy will be a sniper partner with expertise in aerial warfare.

Far Cry 5 is expected to be released on multiple gaming platforms, including Xbox One, PS4 and PC on February 27, 2018.

Assassin's Creed Origins

The next iteration in the Assassin's Creed franchise is expected to be a prequel to Assassin's Creed Syndicate. The game will be set in ancient Egypt with the title Assassin's Creed Origins. The game is tipped for October release at a retail price of Rs. 4,000 in India.

The game's protagonist Bayek will be seen raiding Egyptian tombs and performing underwater swimming, among other skill-building activities, in his quest to accomplish the key mission objectives in the game.
