Last year, this week, the Philippines was hit by one of the strongest storms, Typhoon Haiyan, which wiped out almost everything in its path and killed nearly 8,000 people.
Tacloban, the main city on the island of Leyte was reduced to nothing more than a wasteland on 8 November 2013, resulting in the abrupt homelessness of over a million families. Even today, the deaths of over 1,000 individuals are unaccounted for.
The victims of the super typhoon known in the Philippines as typhoon Yolanda, is still reeling from its after effects. Only 100 of the 14,500 permanent homes that were promised have been built, leaving thousands of people in tents and crowded bunkhouses, according to USA Today.
While Phillippines may be a poor nation, their resilience is undeniable and with their characteristic zest for life, the citizens will be commemorating the anniversary of Super Typhoon Haiyan by organising a dance party on Saturday.
"Party like it never happened remember because it did" is the slogan for a charity dance concert, which, much like the last photo in the series of powerful photos presented here, offers a rainbow of hope to survivors of natural disasters all over the world.
