Turkey has warned that the United States and Russia could initiate a global war over the Syria conflict, if the issue is not resolved.

There are reports of increased tensions between the nations over the past few months relating to Russia's bombing of Syria's Aleppo. The United States and the United Kingdom warned the Russian government and Syria that if the bombing in Aleppo continues, then new economic sanctions could be imposed on the Assad-ruled nation and Russia.

Commenting on the rising tensions between US and Russia, the Turkish deputy prime minister Numan Kurtulmus said, "If this proxy war continues, after this, let me be clear, America and Russia will come to a point of war," Daily Mail reported.

Kurtulmus also added that the Syrian conflict could initiate the Third World War stating that the conflict had put the world "on the brink of the beginning of a large regional or global war".

The US has also accused Russia of attempting to interfere with its 2016 presidential elections. According to the US intelligence agencies, the hacking of the Democratic National Committee emails was conducted by Russian hackers associated with the Kremlin. The US had said that it will hit back with attacks of similar nature. However, Moscow on Sunday condemned Washington for making "unprecedented" threats of cyber attacks.

The Russian military had announced on Monday that the Syrian and Russian forces would cease the hostilities in the region for eight hours in the eastern districts of Aleppo. The bombings by the forces have killed thousands of innocent civilians and children in the region.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, just 24 hours before the Russian military's announcement, at least 50 civilians, including 18 children were killed in the air strikes in the city.

Reports state that a Russian newspaper earlier this month had warned that the Russian President Vladimir Putin was playing a risky game in the Syrian conflict which could drive the world to a Third World War.
