The trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has impressed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has lauded Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar for his efforts and contribution towards the Swachh Bharat mission.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a family drama which traces the love story between a simple man Keshav (Akshay Kumar) and a progressive woman, Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar). The film is a satirical comedy in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which is aimed to improve the sanitation conditions in India with emphasis on the reduction of open defecation in public areas.

The trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which has been written by Siddharth-Garima and directed by Shree Narayan Singh, was released on YouTube on Sunday evening. The 3-minute-long video has become an instant hit with the audience, who are now eagerly waiting to watch it in the theatres. It has received 1,16,23,320 views; 2,29,586 likes; 7,693 dislikes and 12,373 comments in 36 hours.

Soon after its release, congratulatory messages started pouring in for the team. Akshay Kumar‏ could not stop thanking his fans and colleagues from the industry. Six hours later, the actor shared the trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha with the Prime Minister and tweeted: "Here is my humble contribution towards a Swachh Bharat. @narendramodi #ToiletEkPremKathaTrailer @ToiletTheFilm."

Narendra Modi was super impressed with the trailer. In his reply, he lauded the effort of the film unit. He tweeted: "Good effort to further the message of cleanliness. 125 crore Indians have to continue working together to create a Swachh Bharat."

Akshay Kumar thanked Narendra Modi for his appreciation and hoped that the team of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will change the mindset of the people. The Bollywood actor tweeted: "Thank you so much honourable Sir Hope we succeed in changing mindsets and truly making a difference (sic)."

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been produced by Aruna Bhatia, Shital Bhatia, Abundantia, Viacom Motion Pictures, Arjun N Kapoor and Hitesh Thakkar. The movie is scheduled to be released as an Independence Day treat on August 11.
