The claims of a 14-year-old boy, who alleged he was forced to drink his own urine by three school teachers, are reported to be false.

Despite the false claims, the accused teachers were arrested after the school suspended them for torturing the standard nine student.

Bharatraj, who studies in Agaram Seekur Sirumalar High School in Perambalur, around 300 kilometres from Chennai, made allegations that his school teachers made him drink his own urine and later beat him up.

"There is sufficient proof to believe that he was thrashed by the teachers. But his charge about being forced to drink urine was found to be baseless in the medical examination. The teachers have been suspended and a police case is on," T K Mallika, district education officer, told DNA.

Following the incident, the child was admitted to a hospital in Kumbakoam for medical examinations.

A school administrator claimed that the child was punished after he was caught chewing some drug mixed tobacco substance he had brought to school. He also added that the child was given several warnings before any punishments were imposed, adding that the child made false complaints against the teachers.

"How do you expect the teachers to remain mute spectators to such behavior. Are not the teachers answerable to the parents of other students, if they also become indisciplined," Muthamizh Selvan, the school administrator told the Press Trust of India.

Two weeks back, another such shocking incident of corporal punishment came into light, when a class five girl studying in West Bengal's Visva-Bharati Patha Bhavan alleged that her hostel warden forced her to lick urine as a punishment for bed-wetting.
