A message scribbled inside the toilet in the Mumbai International airport warns of a terror attack by ISIS on 10 January. The message was noticed by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for airport security in India.

The threat message was found inside a toilet in the Level 2 of Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

The message read: "CSI ATTECK BY ISIS DATE 10/01/15".

It is believed that whosoever wrote the message was referring to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport as it is also addressed by some as CSI. The CISF is going through CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprit.

The local Sahar police have lodged a case and investigating the matter. The security personnel also have questioned the housekeeping staff. Intelligence agencies are also on the job.

As Level 2 of the Terminal is in the arrival lounge, the investigators are looking at the footage of all arriving passengers for possible leads.

The threat has come at a time when the city police – in view of Republic Day - is maintaining heightened vigil. Also the security agencies have been asked to be extra vigilant as there has been a spurt in terror threats in the country since US President Barack Obama announced his trip to India to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade on January 26.

A Times of India report noted that following the terror threat message, security has been increased and passengers are being scanned at the airport.

"We are probing the matter. Though it is a suspected mischief played by someone, we are not taking any chances. Security has been beefed up," deputy commissioner of police (zone vlll) Virendra Mishra told TOI.

An India Today report said that even though the security agencies are assessing whether the message was a prank or real, they are focusing their efforts to find the culprit.
