Atlee Kumar had earlier indicated that he would like to team up with Thalapathy Vijay again after two hit movies. It seems like there is some progress on their next project.
The buzz in the tinsel town indicates that Atlee Kumar's movie with Vijay will be bankrolled by AGS Entertainment. The makers are looking to launch the movie during the festive season of Pongal next year and plan to release it for Diwali 2019.
Atlee Kumar first directed Vijay in super hit movie Theri, which also starred Samantha and Amy Jackson in key roles. It was a revenge drama in which the cop avenges his wife's death. The young filmmaker's great direction to capture both, emotions and action in the right balance made Theri a huge hit in 2016, winning the approval of family and youth audience alike.
It was followed by blockbuster Mersal. The movie is about a man, who fights for the eradication of corruption in the health industry. Despite being engulfed in controversies upon release, the movie went on to become one of the biggest commercial hits in Kollywood.
After the success of Mersal, the buzz was that Atlee Kumar would be collaborating with Prabhas of Baahubali fame. But he clarified recently that his next flick would be in Tamil after which he plans to move on to a Telugu project.
On the other hand, Vijay is currently working on his next flick Sarkar, written and directed by AR Murugadoss. It is an action thriller which will hit the screens next Diwali. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in the flick, which has Varalaxmi Sarathkumar playing an important role.
