The makers of Ajith's next movie, which is currently being referred to as "Thala 57," are reportedly planning to rope in a popular name to play the role of an antagonist. After considering fast-growing star Vijay Sethupathi, they have now reportedly offered the movie to Sasikumar.

A report on IndiaGlitz claims that the makers have approached Sasikumar for the villain's role. It is believed that the talks are still in progress but there are no signs of them sealing the deal yet. The actor is a favourite star of the rural audience and his inclusion as a baddie in the flick might add value to the project.

However, the upcoming movie is an urban-centric project and it would be interesting to see whether Sasikumar could pull off the role. It is said that Vijay Sethupathi was the first choice to play this character but he could not take up due to his other commitments.

The upcoming movie reportedly has Anushka Shetty playing the female lead role. She had earlier worked with Ajith in Gautham Menon's "Yennai Arindhaal." Kriti Sanon and Ritika Singh of "Irudhi Suttru" are in the race to bag the role of the second heroine in the forthcoming flick.

In the technical team, Anirudh Ravichander has been signed to compose music. He had earlier scored music for Siruthai Siva and Ajith's "Vedalam." Vetri wil be the cinematographer of the Tamil movie.

The regular shooting was supposed to kick-start in June, but the plans underwent changes for unknown reasons. Rumours are rife that Ajith had suggested some changes in the script, delaying the commencement of the project. It is now speculated that "Thala 57" might take off next month.

"Thala 57" has been written and directed by Siruthai Siva, who is teaming up with Ajith for the third time after "Veeram" and "Vedalam." Sathya Jyothi Films is bankrolling the flick, which is expected to be released in April 2017.
