Junior NTR's latest release "Temper" has turned out to be a big money spinner at the US box office. The Puri Jagannath-directed movie may even become the latest Telugu film to cross the $1 million mark.
Junior NTR's blockbuster movie "Baadshah" is the biggest Tollywood release in the United States. It was shown on 125 screens. Later, Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu" broke this record by releasing in 130+ screens in the country. "Temper" also released in around 130 cinema halls across the country.
Released on 12 February, "Temper" opened to an earth-shattering response at the US box office on Thursday. But the film, which garnered mixed reviewers in the country, failed to get the same amount of footfalls over the weekend. The film raked in $256,834 on Thursday, $228,779 on Friday, $203,794 on Saturday and $163,395 on Sunday, according to film trade expert Taran Adarsh.
"Temper" has collected a total of $852,802 (₹5.31 crore) at the US box office in its four-day first weekend. The Telugu movie has performed way better than Bollywood film "Roy" and Tamil film "Anegan", which have collected $133,453 (₹83.02 lakh from 76 screens) and $105,070 (₹65.36 lakh from 45 screens), respectively, in their opening weekend.
The Junior NTR-Kajal Aggarwal starrer is now fast inching towards the $1 million mark. Ten Telugu movies have already crossed this mark at the US box office and "Temper" would be the 11th movie to enter the club. Here is the list of the films that have surpassed $1 million mark.
